A Simple Request :o)

So, we have been here in Blogger for a while, and I have to say, that our community seems to have grown a little (at least for me and the blogs I am following :o)

It now takes me a good two hours to keep up with all you Spotters!

So, here is a simple request, almost a rant, PLEASE TURN OF WORD VERIFICATION FOR COMMENTS on your Blog. When you have 30-40, or more updates to review, not having to enter the word verification may not save a tremendous amount of time, but it sure will lower the frustration level. Below are the instructions.

Go to your Blog
Click on "Customize" (or Dashboard)
Select "Settings Tab"
Go to the Comments section.
Scroll down to the "Show word verification for comments" and click "No".

Thank you in advance for your consideration :o)

  1. I've been on blogger now for several years and when I didn't have that word verification on, I got some weird spam. So for now mine stays on. Sorry, but I guess you probably haven't experienced that yet. 'On Ya' - ma

  3. I am glad to hear I am not the only one who has a hard time with those letters. I turned mine off the first day.

  4. Yep! I agree! That word verification can add to time better spent reading and responding to entries. Way to go Ken!

  6. I think mine is set to where you don't have to enter the word verification. I decided not to have it unless I started getting the spam. We'll try it and see. I agree I don't like having to enter it but I will be willing to for those that feel they need it.
Have a great rest of the weekend.

  7. Well said, Ken. I it is a problem when you follow a lot of blogs. Missy's comment is interesting as well because of the possible spam deal.

  8. TOTALLY agree. I figure that if I start getting a bunch of spam, I'll turn it on for a while...but then turn it off again eventually. I know I lost a comment or three that I was leaving today because I typed in the letters wrong!

  9. I was wondering about that. I'll go do it, now. Well, when I'm done commenting here. :) I like Beth's idea, though.

  10. I know it is frustrating but I have had spam comments in the past telling me how much they enjoyed my blog and then directing me to go to a massage site! I got tired of cleaning them out so I added the verification. Besides, I was tempted by the thought of a massage!! I do appreciate your comments so I hope you will put up with my road bump.

  11. Okay ... I just read Beth's suggestion so I will turn it off for now but it goes back on the next time someone wants me to enroll in their massage classes!! LOL

  12. I don't think that I have the word verification on but I DO have comment moderation on so that I can 'approve this messagge' before it is published.... It is easy and you don't get upset people who can't do the verification thingy... Just a thought!

  13. Ahhh, no I won't be doing that. I know it's a pain but I've been on Blogger forever and if you turn it off and your blog becomes popular the trollers will come out and spam comment all over your blog. That's a real pain to go back and clean up.

  18. Bucko's World, how could you do this to me? I know I can be a pain in the butt, and I'm hard to understand sometimes. If you send this message of dislike, I will no longer irritate people. For all the people who like to be annoyed, please keep using me!

  19. I've got mine off for the last few days, beacuse it is a small pain, but eventually the spammers will come a'calling. I had a guestbook that was just plain overrun by spam comments not too long ago. It's disturbing to see penile implant ads surrounding a comment left by my Mom :)

  20. I turned it off, but I am also going to reinstall it if I get a lot of SPAM. I really hate it, a year ago I was getting SPAM IM's on my phone. I had to go into the bowels of the phone website to eliminate them. They were the kind you wouldn't want your mom to see. And I had to pay for the darm things. GGRRRRRRRR.

  24. Sometimes I cant read those slanty letters and get it wrong, then they give you another one to type in, which just takes time. I dont like that either. I don't think mine is like that, I better check I guess! Will follow your instructions to be sure, thanks! :) Kelly
