Place uncooked Cream of Wheat or cornmeal on ant nests, and spread is where ants travel. The ants eat it, then it expands in their stomachs and kills them. This method is much less expensive than calling an exterminator or using chemicals, and it is safer than using poison.
I'm glad to know this. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWow, I never knew this till now-and we went and spent about ten bucks on a couple different kinds of poison to take care of our ant problem and had plenty of cornmeal in the cupboard.
ReplyDeleteOkay -- what have you got for flies? And don't say "spiders"/
ReplyDeleteI'm trying this one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ken.
Wow, Ken...I've never heard of this. I have used supposedly environmentaly safe granules but this makes more sense. Thanks for the tip! Linda in Washington
ReplyDeleteYikes. Death by cream of wheat. What a way to go. Another reason to stick with Oatmeal for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Marty
In the south, we take Fire Ants very seriously. I wasn't an over-responder to their stings twenty years ago, but I am now. It's not uncommon for folks working in their yards to be swarmed by them when a nest is accidentally stepped on. We rely on grits...naturally. Thanks for spreading the safer word.
ReplyDeleteGREAT information. I'll give it a try.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...I may just do that.
