Broken Glass Cleanup :o)

Hundreds of tiny shards often are spread across the floor when glass breaks.

Sweeping never removes them all. Next time glass breaks in your home, sweep away the larger pieces, then press a few slices of bread onto the broken-glass area.

Needless to say, dispose of the bread properly so that nobody gets a nasty surprise, or conversely, make a special sandwich for that special person [cue evil grin here] :o)

  1. I thought this was going to be an entry about the Grandmaster Flash song, the classic 'The Message' ... you know, it begins with the line

'Broken glass everywhere, people p*ssin' on the stair you know they just don't care

  2. Great idea! I just hate it when I or someone else breaks a glass. I've also used wet paper towels but am always afraid to even kneel down to do the job. Linda in western Washington where it's cooled down and we actually got 4 minutes of rain.

  3. Thanks for the tip! I'm pretty thorough about cleaning up after a glass breaks in my kitchen, providing I'm the one who is aware of the accident. I've never thought to use bread in this fashion, but sounds like a perfect way to get up those tiny slivers that remind us we didn't clean up as well as we thought. Ever grateful, young man!

  6. I'm thinking a certain FM-in-law of Beth's should never accept a sandwich from you. ~Mary

  7. Mmmm, tasty! A broken glass sandwich! I imagine if you used cracked wheat bread the glass shards would be less noticeable. :-)

  8. Love Beths' comment! Thanks for the excellent idea. I had a piece of glass in my foot for a long time (months) after a vase broke and I thought I had gotten all of the shards. Now I know.
