Well said Mr. Pitts!

  1. I agree, it is well said!!

The thought is upsetting, do we plan to rewrite history so the word is only used by mean slave owners? I am not justifying owning slaves.

  2. Pitts is so very often spot-on.
We cannot change history by rewriting every single novel that has an offensive word in it. Take Finn for what it was, and when it was written, to show how we once lived, and how we've changed.

  3. I see the article includes that same old tired argument of "But black people use the word in rap songs." Guess what? We have the right to decide if and when the word can be used.

And this rewriting history crap? Sorry but every morning I still wake up and know that I'm black woman in this country and know all that entails. Try a new argument.

  4. I hated reading that book in school because sometimes I'd be forced to read it every damn year. Twain is overrated anyway -- so I could care less if he's censored.
