Going to get our Kicks!

Tonight I will pick up our rental car, and then the trip we have been fixing to get ready to take for the past ten years will be a reality.  Tomorrow we head to Chicago, to the start of the mother road, and from there we will follow Route 66 to its end point in Santa Monica, CA.

We are only planning about 150 miles per day, and have already made reservations at a couple of iconic motels along the route.  We will be doing lots of little side trips to see as much of the original road as we can.  Lots of neon, mom & pop stores, attractions, people, places, and things.

We will end our vacation with seeing my Aunt and Cousins in Yucaipa, the honor of watching Andy receive his PhD at CalTech, and a weekend with Kim & Steve in LA.  We are hoping that Heather, Jen, Ray, and Liam will come up and join us for a day as well.

My phone is a moble hot spot, so we will be able to post and let you share the trip.  We will be doing some posts here, and I am sure lots of mobile uploads to FaceBook, so if you are not already my friend, then let me know and we can get hooked up there.   Back to regular programming on June 19th.  Until then, we will be kicking it up and I hope you will join us for the ride.
