Air Canada wrote: "Flight AC991 from Toronto to Mexico City is
expected to generate at least 40 per cent fewer emissions by using jet fuel
derived from recycled cooking oil and through other fuel-saving measures,
making it the most environmentally-friendly flight ever flown by Air Canada.
The flight is supported by Airbus and is part of an environmental demonstration
by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to coincide with the
Rio +20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development."
Hey, Willie Nelson has been doing that for a while now on his tour bus! Why not on a plane?

I think that this kind of use has been long overdue. I recall in the 90's that there all sorts of machines and vehicles that ran on cooking oil. What I hope is that this will eventually transform the industry and we can find a cheaper way of moving around!!

ReplyDeleteThere isn't enough used cooking oil in the world for it to make even a tiny dent in our fossil fuel consumption.
