This kanji symbol for forgiveness looks friendly, benign, even kindly--but, somehow, not gleeful or playful.

Our brains aren't built for forgetting a harm or hurt done us, but we can forgive when we reframe the situation by understanding more about it...contemplation, as you say...shifting our point of view and our understanding of the transgressor. We don't have to feel guilty about not being able to forget. Maybe forgiving ourselves means accepting that we are not necessarily psychologically or characterologically superior to others; if we can understand how someone else could make the mistake of harming or hurting us, maybe we can understand how we make that mistake ourselves. Now, that's post-doc contemplation!Nancehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15166865250789996825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4240652707324624619.post-4541038011520629082010-05-28T17:21:34.411-04:002010-05-28T17:21:34.411-04:00I have such a hard time forging myself.I have such a hard time forging myself.lelocolonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13863848230674917354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4240652707324624619.post-60313697432366407552010-05-27T17:38:32.368-04:002010-05-27T17:38:32.368-04:00Forgiving I can do.
